This car was a bit rough... and then some. At first the plan was just to fix it. When the worst of it's troubles were fixed Gabriel decided it needed paint. How do you decide how far to go tearing it down for rust repair? We took it ALL apart and it's a good thing we did. It was rustier than we thought. Thanks to some amazing restoration work by Mike Kun (Mike's Autobody) we are now putting Bean back together. With a bit more work this one will be a fine example of it's kind. Read more
Saved from the scrapper.Emma's daily driver.The previous owners of this car were about to scrap it. It needed an engine and that was too much for them on a a car that was getting old. It needed everything... engine, brakes, suspension, exhaust, more things than I can remember to list. The engine was replaced and a little bit at a time the other stuff got fixed.It's been to Vancouver and back trouble free and is serving well as a commuter. There are some ideas floating around about it deserving a turbo but for now we'll settle for safe and reliable. Read more
Many hours were spent on this little gem, teaching pieces of Rabbit, Cabriolet and Scirocco to play nicely together. Many more were spent on wiring diagrams, trying to match fuse box pins to the Cabriolet dash harness and the Scirocco rear wiring. Did you know that the order of the pins is different on the European tail lights? Before this project, I didn’t either.Then there was grinding the rust off of old things to make them new again, and installing many new things — brakes, suspension, ball joints, wheel bearings and that sort of stuff.
